In 2008, the GOP contest came down to Mitt Romney versus a self-righteous evangelical big government conservative - Mike Huckabee, and a cranky old erratic semi-Republican - John McCain.
In 2012, the GOP contest has come down to Mitt Romney versus a self-righteous evangelical big government conservative - Rick Santorum, and a cranky old erratic semi-Republican - Newt Gingrich (who barely believes in the free market). (And who wanted an open marriage with his ex-wife #2 and his current wife #3.)
I hope the GOP doesn't make the same mistake this time that the GOP made last time!
Mitt would have defeated Obama in 2008 - and he will in 2012, if we give him the chance.
