Is The Attempted Public Destruction Of Rupert Murdoch The Dreyfus Affair of Our Time?

There are two ways to consider this question:

1) Is the scathing public attack on Rupert Murdoch an expression of anti-Semitism? This may seem like a stupid question, considering the fact that Rupert Murdoch is NOT A JEW. But, try telling that to the anti-Semites of the world.

2) In our time, there is also a hatred of America, Free Market Capitalism, and "Conservatism" (a belief in Liberty), all of which Rupert Murdoch has come to represent in the minds of the public who hates him. That Rupert Murdoch represents any of this triumvirate is extremely questionable. Certainly, Rupert Murdoch is not an American by birth. He is Australian, only coming to gain U.S. Citizenship in order to expand his business empire. His support of Free Market Capitalism is doubtful. Like most heads of large corporations, he is, likely, much more concerned with gaining influence in the government that will help him establish and maintain market share, than he is interested in an absolutely unfettered Free Market. And, the notion that Rupert Murdoch - the leader of News Corp. which is the parent corporation of British rags, the Simpsons, Glee, Cops, American Idol, Hannity and Colmes, and other degrading trash (not that I'm opposed to degrading trash) - is a a Conservative is downright laughable.

And yet, all of us pro-American, pro-Western Civilization, pro-Free Market Capitalist know full-well that an attack on Rupert Murdoch is a direct attack on us. At the very least, this is true in the minds of Rupert Murdoch's attackers.

It is not a mistake that the Radical Muslims, and the Radical Leftists, of the world are united in regarding America as the Great Satan/Nazis and Israel as the Little Satan/Nazis. I believe we, as Conservatives, must come to grips with the notion that, when our enemies are scoring what they believe to be a direct hit on our loci of power, they believe they are attacking us as primitive, Biblical Fundamentalist, God-fearing, Conservative Christians and Jews. This is their perception of us, whether this is how we perceive ourselves, or not.

If this notion seems surprising or doubtful to you, ask them. Ask them if they perceive Rupert Murdoch as a primary leader of the ignorant, Fundamentalist, Christianist movement in America. Ask them if they do not perceive Murdoch as being the most powerful mouthpiece for Neo-Conservatism; the leader of the media hegemony that led us into war in Iraq, the mouthpiece for Bush, Cheney, Wolfowitz, Perle, etc.

And, we Conservative lovers of Liberty are, also, the targets of this hatred which is being directed at Mr. Murdoch. Just as the Jews of Europe were surprised to learn, as the 1930's rolled around, that they were targets once again, no matter how much they had "assimilated", no matter whether they even thought of themselves as Jews at all, so we, who think of ourselves as only nominal believers, "moderates" who participate in the postmodern pop culture which our society has become, will may also be shocked to find that we are the targets of such hatred, but it is true.

Consider, for instance, Rebekah Brooks. The other day, a prominent British MP from the Labor Party went so far as to demand the break-up of Rupert Murdoch's media empire. This over the phone hacking promoted and approved by Rebekah Brooks, while she was Editor of the ridiculous, and trashy, "News of the World", which is just barely above the National Enquirer in terms of the respect it commands as a source of "news".

Is it at all rational to demand the break-up of one of the largest corporations in the world over decisions made by the Editor of such a rag?

Of course, none of this is proof that the attack on Murdoch is the Dreyfus Affair of our time. In fact, the Dreyfus Affair, while an example of egregious Jew-hatred, is most notable for the determination it spawned in Theodore Herzl, who is now known as the father of modern Zionism, the man whose ideas led to the creation of Israel, the Jewish State.

Here is Theodore Herzl's account of what he learned from the Dreyfus Affair, and why he came to the conclusion that Jews would have to establish their own land:

“The Dreyfus case embodies more than just a judicial error; it embodies the desire of a vast majority of the French to condemn a Jew and to condemn all Jews in this one Jew… In republican, modern, civilized France, a hundred years after the Declaration of the Rights of Man, the French people, or rather the greater part of the French people, does not want to extend the rights of man to Jews. The edict of the great revolution has been revoked.”

One must wonder, if the attack on Murdoch is, indeed, a signal to us Conservatives that, perhaps, we do need to establish a place of our own, where we can be free of such hatred. For it is becoming clear that, just as the Jews have been hated in Europe for century upon century, we who love Liberty will also be forever hated by those who want to Europeanize America, and the rest of Western Civilization.

If we are to have such a place of our own, we will not establish it on new land somewhere else in the world. Instead, we will have to cut out huge swaths of new frontier right here where we are. And, we will have to do this with utter assurance in our own Manifest Destiny to rule ourselves by our own ideas, and by the work of our own hand, and by the fruits of our labor thereof, the Leftists and the Islamists of the world be damned.
