Prince William and Kate have adopted a baby Humbolt penguin called Acorn.THIS ITEM MAKES ME THINK THAT THE "REPUBLIC OF BRITAIN" SOUNDS PRETTY DARN GOOD!
According to Chester Zoo, the Humbolt penguins are an endangered species. Acorn was given to the newly married couple as a wedding present, though he will stay at the zoo with the other penguins.
"It's a real honor to be able to boast Prince William and Kate as penguin adopters," said a spokesman for the zoo. "Hopefully, the happy couple will come and see little Acorn playing in his pool very soon."
As part of the adoption pack, William and Kate can visit their baby penguin for free. The spokesman added: "They would also be able to watch Acorn being fed, and we'd be delighted if they chose to renew the adoption at the end of 12 months."
HERE'S ANOTHER BRITISH PENGY STORY:
Except much of the population doesn't want a Republic.
ReplyDeleteThe Royal family does this sort of thing a lot. They sponsor all sorts of charities, or do things to raise public awareness about the plight of one group or another. They're rich eccentrics and they don't actually rule the nation. Figureheads aren't particularly dangerous.
This seems pretty harmless to me. My spouse, who is an ex-pat, yawned.
