No Link Seen Between Bin Laden Attack and Royal Honeymoon Delay
LONDON - A spokeswoman for St. James’s Palace said there was no link between the U.S. attack on Osama bin Laden and the decision by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to postpone their honeymoon.
On Saturday, the day after the wedding, St. James’s Palace announced that the couple “have chosen not to depart for a honeymoon immediately,” and their future honeymoon, overseas, “will not be disclosed in advance.”
The announcement came as a surprise: The couple were widely believed to be headed for Jordan or Kenya for a post-wedding break.
“The couple made their choice weeks ago to postpone the honeymoon,” said a spokeswoman. “It was a personal decision," she said, stressing it had nothing to do with the U.S. military operation that left bin Laden dead and the American government bracing for possible retaliation.
