"We need a mayor who will be willing to divide Jerusalem. (Nir) Barkat is unfit to be mayor," former minister Yossi Sarid said Thursday at a conference organized by Peace Now against the plan to demolish Palestinian homes in Silwan and build an archeological park in their place. It's a shame we've still got these dhimmis to contend with, and Ynet to pay lip service to them. They continually fail to recognize how they lost support over the years, with Meretz reduced to but 3 measly seats in Knesset, and continue to push for defeatism. It's very sad.

Meretz Chairman Chaim Oron told the conference, "Whoever thwarts a solution in Jerusalem will thwart the entire (peace) agreement. Whoever speaks of a two-state solution but does not speak of two capitals in Jerusalem is deceiving himself and the public."
Itai Mazrev, who runs Peace Now's Jerusalem branch, said, "In the coming weeks Barkat won’t have a moment's peace. We will launch a campaign that no one will be able to ignore.

YOSSI SARID STILL ADVOCATES DIVIDING JERUSALEM
The former leader of the Meretz party in Israel, which was known for its anti-religious platform during the 1990s, still favors dividing Jerusalem:
Dividing Jerusalem would be like Solomon splitting the baby. As I see it the Palestinian have no claim to any part of that city. "Wars like elections, have consequences"!
ReplyDeleteNot sure why Yossi Sarid is still newsworthy.
