SYRIA GAVE HIZBALLAH SCUDS; BARAK ISSUES WARNING TO LEBANON AND SYRIA

UPDATED: SCROLL DOWN...

JPOST:
Defense Minister Ehud Barak responded to reports that Syria has transferred Scud missiles to Hizbullah on Tuesday, saying “the escalation in Lebanon seems to be a blatant violation of UN Security Council resolutions.”

Earlier on Tuesday, a Kuwaiti newspaper reported that Israel threatened to bomb Syria if it supplies Hizbullah with Scud missiles. “We have no aggressive intentions towards Lebanon,” Barak said on a visit to the Tel Hashomer IDF base, stressing that “we expect and recommend that everyone remain peaceful in the North.”

He emphasized that “bringing in systems that upset the balance [of power] endanger our stability and peace.”

According to the newspaper Al-Rai, Assad has already given the Lebanese terror organization advanced Scud missiles that can reach any part of Israel. American intelligence sources discovered a weapons transfer from Syria to Hizbullah at the end of last year, which they called “unusual and dangerous.”

The intelligence sources explained that not only did the advanced-weapons transfer threaten regional stability, but it also undermined the new Lebanese government’s sovereignty.

As a result, and in an effort to prevent a new conflict, the US State Department reportedly summoned the Syrian ambassador in Washington, Imad Mustafa, and warned him that war could break out if the weapons shipments were not stopped.
THIS IS ONE MAJOR REASON WHY THE ARABS HAVEN'T WANTED TO TALK TO THE ISRAELIS: THEY WANT WAR. AND WITH OBAMA, THEY HAVE A FRIEND IN THE WHITE HOUSE.

UPDATE:
President Shimon Peres arrived in Paris on Tuesday at the start of three day state visit as the guest of President Nicolas Sarkozy and the Mayor of Paris Bertrand Delanoe, who was in Israel last week to sign a cooperation agreement with Tel Aviv Mayor Ron Huldai and to launch the Portrait of Paris film festival.

The main purpose of the President's visit to Paris is to inaugurate Ben Gurion Promenade which is a tribute by the City of Paris to Israel's founding prime minister and to the State of Israel itself. The inauguration is due to take place on Thursday despite opposition by the Communist party and other pro-Palestinian elements.

In an interview with Israel Radio prior to his departure Peres criticized Syria for what he considered to be its hypocritical stance.

"Syria claims that it wants peace, while simultaneously delivering Scud missiles to Hezbollah which is constantly threatening the security of the State of Israel," he said.

Voicing doubts about Syria's so-called peaceful intentions, Peres said: "When I speak, I am in favor of peace. They are in favor of war."
EXACTLY WHAT WE SAID. YUP: WE SCOOPED THE PRESIDENT OF ISRAEL! HEH.

UOPDATE #2: SIX HOURS LATER AND HOT AIR NOTICED THE STORY.
