Employers would be required to offer health care to employees or pay a penalty, and all Americans would be guaranteed health insurance, under a draft bill being circulated Friday by Sen. Edward M. Kennedy's health committee."HEALTH CHOICE ACT"!?!? IS HE FREAKIN' KIDDING!?!? THIS IS ALL ABOUT TAKING AWAY OUR CHOICES, AND MAKING THE STATE MORE POWERFUL.
The bill would provide subsidies to help poor people afford care, and give patients the right to select any doctor they want.
Insurers would be required to provide a basic level of care and [BE REQUIRED TO] cover all comers, without turning people away because of pre-existing conditions or other reasons.
It's already been known that Kennedy's health committee was planning to pursue most of the concepts outlined in the draft of the bill, called the ''American Health Choices Act.'' But it's the first actual bill language to circulate since Congress began working on President Barack Obama's health care overhaul.
- WHY SHOULD ANYONE'S HEALTHCARE BE TIED TO ANYONE'S JOB!?
- IT MAKES NO SENSE; IN FACT, IT'S AN ANACHRONISM OF A BAD DEAL FDR MADE DURING WW2! NRO:
Most Americans receive their health insurance from their employer. Few pause, however, to contemplate why. As part of the war effort, the FDR administration imposed wage and price controls. Employers, seeking a way to provide workers with competitive salaries without violating the law, began offering health benefits. On October 26, 1943, the IRS legitimized the practice, ruling that health benefits would remain tax free.
- THE GOP PLAN WOULD GIVE INDIVIDUALS THE TAX CREDIT FOR BUYING WHATEVER PLAN THEY WANT, A CREDIT CURRENTLY GIVEN TO EMPLOYERS FOR OFFERING HEALTH INSURANCE.
- KENNEDY AND OBAMA ARE TRYING TO DO TO THE USA WHAT ATTLEE DID TO POST-WAR GREAT BRIT IAN, MOVES WHICH RUINED BRITAIN.
AND MAKE NO MISTAKE ABOUT IT, THESE ATTLEESQUE POLICIES WILL RUIN US, IF THEY PASS.
DISSENT ACCORDINGLY.
WHY SHOULD ANYONE'S HEALTHCARE BE TIED TO ANYONE'S JOB!?
ReplyDeleteIt shouldn't be. But for a long time, that tie has been the operative factor for health-insurance coverage for many of us.
Unfortunately, for Mr. AOW, with multiple and serious medical conditions, and me, that's the only type of decent coverage we could get at an affordable rate.
Mr. AOW's employer did layoffs in January 2008. Those laid off, including Mr. AOW, were those who cost the health plan the most money -- never mind that Mr. AOW had been with the company for nearly 12 years.
We're now out here on our own -- paying a fortune for minimal coverage, catastrophic in nature.
If the federal government gets involved in healthcare, the screw up will be horrendous.
i have great coverage thru my employer.
ReplyDeleteevery INDIVIDUAL should get the same rate and TAX deduction for the same coverage i got.
fdr's deal is what has TRAPPED us in the current INANE system.
the GOP plan would change that.
