EXCUSING TRAITORS: OBAMA, CUBA AND MYERS

From this front-page article in the Washington Post:
A Slow Burn Becomes a Raging Fire:
Disdain for U.S. Policies May Have Led to Alleged Spying for Cuba

He was a courtly State Department intelligence analyst from a prominent family who loved to sail and peruse the London Review of Books. Occasionally, he would voice frustration with U.S. policies, but to his liberal neighbors in Northwest D.C. it was nothing
out of the ordinary. "We were all appalled by the Bush years," one said.

What Walter Kendall Myers kept hidden, according to documents unsealed in court Friday, was a deep and long-standing anger toward his country, an anger that allegedly made him willing to spy for Cuba for three decades.

"I have become so bitter these past few months. Watching the evening news is a radicalizing experience," he wrote in his diary in 1978, referring to what he described as greedy U.S. oil companies, inadequate health care and "the utter complacency of the oppressed" in America....
Sound familiar? Echoes of BHO there.

The article goes on to state:
Myers, who goes by Kendall, grew up in Washington, the eldest of five children. His father, Walter, was a renowned heart surgeon; his mother, Carol, was the daughter of Gilbert H. Grosvenor, the longtime former president of the National Geographic Society, and was the granddaughter of inventor Alexander Graham Bell.

Myers went to prep school at Mercersburg Academy in Pennsylvania and graduated from Brown University. He went on to get a doctorate in European history from the Johns Hopkins SAIS.

The son of privilege fell in love with the communist revolution, according to diary entries released in court.

"Everything I hear about Fidel suggests that he is a brilliant and charismatic leader," Myers wrote, according to the documents.
The article goes on to show both explicit and implied sympathy for two apparent spies, whose damage to our nation has yet to be ascertained. An empathetic judge, such as the type of judge BHO is wont to appoint, would likely be moved to pity the Myerses.

The BHO administration has been concerned that this case of treason may damage BHO's relationship with Cuba these days. One way to take the heat off the issue is to blame American policy under other Presidents for the acts of treason committed by Walter Kendall and Gwendolyn Myers.

RELIAPUNDIT ADDS AN ASIDE:

FOR DECADES THE STATE DEPARTMENT - LIKE THE CIA - HAS BEEN FILLED WITH COMSYMPS AND ARABISTS WHO HAVE UNDERMINED US NATIONAL DEFENSE: FAMOUSLY HISS; RECENTLY WILKERSON; PLAME-WILSON...

THIS IS JUST THE LATEST EXAMPLE.

NIXON KNEW THIS:

IT'S WHY HE USED HIS NSC CHIEF KISSINGER TO DO ALL THE HEAVY LIFTING DURING HIS FIRST TERM AND STUCK THE AMIABLE AND USELESS WM. ROGERS AT STATE - WITH THE "STRIPED-PANTS FAGGOTS IN FOGGY BOTTOM" .

  1. Nixon was a wise man, a visionary, of sorts, capable of seeing several moves ahead on the international chess board, but he sure was an idiot when it came to public relations. He was, also, paranoid, which made his P.R. even worse.

I thought Oliver Stone's movie Nixon was the second-best movie Stone ever did. I thought he was pretty fair to Nixon.
