FOUR MORE MORE NHS NIGHTMARES

YORKSHIRE POST: Mother blames NHS for fire death
A GRIEVING mother has told an inquest that an NHS beds crisis was to blame for the death of her aspiring pop star daughter who was killed by a fire in her Yorkshire bedsit.

An inquest heard that bakery worker Sheree Goose, 32, was rescued alive by firefighters from the smoke-filled room just four minutes after her boyfriend Paul Wood.

Although critically injured Mr Wood was transferred to a hospital burns unit, no NHS bed was found for Miss Goose.

A pathologist's report revealed she died from 40 per cent burns and showed she had taken a large dose of heroin.

Doctors at Barnsley District Hospital could not find a bed at a burns unit anywhere in Yorkshire for Miss Goose, but her partner, 33, was transferred to Wythenshawe Hospital in Manchester.

HD EXAMINER:
HEALTH chiefs have pledged to tackle patients’ concerns about GP surgeries in Kirklees.

A recent consultation showed that struggling to get GP appointments and waiting times are the key issue for patients in Kirklees.

Top of patients wish list are improvements in access to GP appointments, waiting times and anger at being asked to call back at another time.

The same issues also related to access to hospital services.

THIS IS GLOUCESTERSHIRE:
HEALTH chiefs in Gloucestershire paid for more than 800 patients to be treated at private hospitals last year in a bid to slash waiting lists.

Figures released in response to an Echo Freedom of Information request reveal patients have been sent as far away as Oxford as part of a Government drive to reduce delays in the health service.

In total, 804 patients suffering from broken bones, degenerative diseases and tumours were referred to private hospitals between April 2008 and March this year.

THE HERALD/LETTER: Waiting in pain

I note the maximum waiting time to see a consultant from referral by a GP is 18 weeks ("Hospital waiting times at record low", The Herald, May 27). I was referred by my GP in December last year and am not due to see a consultant until June 18. I also note that, in the case of a test being needed before treatment, the maximum waiting time from test to treatment is 15 weeks. I doubt that NHS Forth Valley will meet that objective in my case.

BOTTOM-LINE: THE NHS SUCKS. BRITS KNOW IT.

BUT OBAMA APPARENTLY DOESN'T KNOW IT OR DOESN'T CARE.

PERHAPS OBAMA CARES MORE ABOUT HELPING THE SEIU - A BIG HOPSITAL UNION THAN HELPING CITIZENS WITH HEALTHCARE.
