SARKOZY: DHIMMI IN CHIEF OF L'EMIRAT FRANCAIS

Speaking at a joint meeting of the Association for Mediterranean Convergence and the Institute of the Arab World (how's that for a Eurabian agenda?) Nicolas Sarkozy lauded Arabic as the language of the future (translation here):

He called Arabic the "language of the future, of science and of modernity" and said he hoped that "more French people share in the language that expresses great civilizational and spiritual values."

He went on to say:

We must invest in the Arabic language (because) to teach it symbolizes a moment of exchange, of openness and of tolerance, (and it) brings with it one of the oldest and most prestigious civilizations of the world. It is in France that we have the greatest number of persons of Arabic and Muslim origin. Islam is the second religion of France.

His sentiments represent a fantasy. Whether Arabic ever was a vehicle for science and modernity is at best questionable, but it is certainly not a language of science and modernity today. I doubt that any significant science is published in the Arabic language, and the paucity, the absolute dearth of translations of books into Arabic indicates that anyone in the Arab-speaking world who has an interest in any modern or scientific subject is capable of reading about it in the original English, French, German, or Hebrew. (The UN determined that the total number of books translated into Arabic is about 300 a year. There are hundreds of millions of Arabic speakers. In contrast, about 1500 books a year are translated into Greek, which has a population of 11 million.) Unilingual Arab readers appear to have no interest in anything that originates outside the ramparts of their own culture.

What we see in Sarkozy's pathetic fantasy is merely the craven posturing of a dhimmi, currying favor with the violent, barbaric horde whose cruel caprices he fears, but whose oil wealth he covets.

They've given up on assimilating Arab-speaking foreigners into a French-speaking, secular, tolerant France. Instead, they are going to assimilate into the intolerant, Islamist ummah.

It seems that Charles Martel's victory at Poitiers was merely a holding action. The centuries of freedom from Islamist tyranny that he bought with the blood of his knights and men at arms have been squandered by a corrupt, self-serving leftist bureaucracy.
