Brrrr! Coldest Bears home game on recordHERTFORDSHIRE:
December 23, 2008
The NHL's Winter Classic is nine days away, and it could be downright balmy by then.
It was 2 degrees when the Bears-Packers game kicked off with a wind-chill factor of minus-13, making it the coldest Bears home game since they began keeping such records in 1963.
Hertfordshire gritters tackling coldest winter for 30 yearsSIBERIA SHOWS NO SIGNS OF GLOBAL WARMING EITHER: Welcome to the Coldest Town on Earth
06:59 - 20 December 2008
BY this time last year, Hertfordshire Highways had sent out its gritters on just three occasions.
But this year, after one of the coldest winters for 30 years, the machines have already been deployed 25 times.
Oymyakon, Siberia
As winter sets in, the 800 hearty denizens of the coldest town on earth are bracing for one of the most frigid blasts yet, as forecasters predict that temperatures in Oymyakon, Siberia, could plunge to the coldest ever recorded in an inhabited location. There is no disputing that the mercury slides in Alaska and even in the Midwestern U.S. in the heart of winter. But if you want cold, visit Oymyakon, which this winter is expected to reach (or perhaps exceed) its record low temperature: a bone-chilling minus 90 degrees Fahrenheit (minus 68 degrees Celsius) reached on Feb. 6, 1933. It is a record matched only by nearby Verkhoyansk, Siberia, which endured minus 90 degrees Fahrenheit on Feb. 7, 1892.AS COLD OR COLDER NOW AS IN 1892. WHAT DOES THAT TELL YOU?
- THERE IS NO MORE GLOBAL WARMING; WHAT LITTLE THERE WAS ENDED A DECADE AGO, AND IT WAS ALL NATURAL!
- WE'RE IN A COOLING PHASE, PERHAPS ANOTHER MAUNDER MINIMUM.
- THEREFORE, ANY FEDERAL SPENDING OR TAXING TO PROMOTE A "GREEN ECONOMY" IS A TOTAL WASTE OF MONEY, MERELY A BOONDOGGLE TO BENEFIT OBAMA AND HIS CHICAGO GANG.
UPDATE: VIA DRUDGE: BEATING THE ODDS, FULLY ONE-HALF OF THE USA IS HAVING A WHITE CHRISTMAS:
- HISTORICALLY SPEAKING, THERE WAS ONLY A 10% CHANCE OF THIS.
- AND IF GORE AND OBAMA AND THE ECO-NUTSIES WERE RIGHT ABOUT GLOBAL WARMING, THEN IT SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING AT ALL.
- OBVIOUSLY THEY ARE WRONG.
The earth is cooling now because all the missing bees are at the polar caps flying around really fast to create wind which is helping to cool things off. Later the bees will be communicating with Mr. Spock to ensure the temperature drop they created is sufficient. Should it not be, Mr. Spock and Captain Kirk will go back in time with a sling shot around the sun and tell Henry Ford that he should focus on electric cars instead of internal combustion engines.
ReplyDeleteI am 100% in favor of better care of our backyard but you global warming CULTS are truly NUTS!
SECOND HAND SMOKE IS ANOTHER MAJOR CAUSE.
ReplyDeleteAND HANDGUNS.

Even if global warming is not true, that doesn't mean that having a sustainable, "green," economy is a waste of money, and it will actually save everyone money in the long run (not that anyone even thinks about how what they are doing now will affect the future anyway). Just because we are humans, the "highest order of creature" on the planet, doesn't mean that we can go trashing our environment. We still depend on it to live, even with all of our technology.
tay - thanks for commenting.
ReplyDeletei disagree.
if green crap is better than it should be able to compete in the marketplace without my tax-dollars subsidizing it.
if gm and ford and chrysler should make it on their own,m then so should windmills etc.
americans overwhelmingly opposed the big three bailout - and we were right.
AND WE ARE NOT TRASHING OUR ENVIRONMENT, TAY!!
sheesh.
humanswith the healthiest .longest lived lives with the highest living standards live in the most indiustrialized economies.
people who live in pristine agri economies are ppor, unhealthy and die young.
since the industrial revolution, population has increased and so has living standards and lifespans IN INDUSTRIAL ECONOMIES!
the third world is poor and third-worlders die young because they lack what we have.
if you truly want to improve the lives of all your fellow humans then you should support policies which PROMOTE industry and not shackle it.
we need more power plants and factories and YES SWEATSHOPS - especially in Africa!
yes to nuclear power plants and yes to power grids and yes to industry.
carbon-o-phobia is hampering this and condemning MILLIONS to poverty and shorter lives.
Africans need fridges and stovres to end malnutrition and lung disease.
they need plumbing and cars and trucks - and well EVERYTHING ELSE WHICH IMPROVED OUR LIVES.
they do not need carbon credits or swaps.
all the best!
happy new year!
Reliapundit,
ReplyDeleteA Green Economy does not mean an agricultural one, it just means sustainable. All that I'm saying is that people need to use their resources in such a way future generations will be able to use them too. The thinking of some anti-global warming people is, "Well, global warming doesn't exist, so it doesn't matter what we do to the environment."
I have said absolutely nothing against industry. Although it is a major polluter (not just because of carbon emissions, they also are a major water polluter and smog producer), I am not unrealistic enough to think that we don't need industry for development. It just needs to be made "greener", more environmentally friendly.
You say that agricultural economies are "pristine", but agriculture, in every country, on every continent, is actually a major polluter. Most economies which are based solely on agriculture actually have the worst environmental degradation in the world. But it's not the agricultural economy that's making them die young, it's the lack of health care and government support.
Like I said before, a green (sustainable, not agricultural) economy is always more economically viable in the long-run, it just takes an initial investment, just like anything else. Do you think that gm and ford and chrysler just conjured up cars out of thin air and started making money right away?
africans die young because of undernourishment and lung disease from in-home pollution from fires and from malaria.
ReplyDeletethey need fridges and electric stoves and DDT.
lib greenies like you have prevented each of these improvements.
they do not need more govt or better healthcare.
they need industry and the HEALTH that comes from a modern food and modern shelter.
SUSTAINABLE is bullshit.
silicon was a WORTHLESS mineral until innovation made it have worth.
ditto OIL. and uranium. etc.
let those who want to invest in "green" industry" do it with their own money - NOT TAXPAYERS!
paul ehrlich was wrong in 1968 about the population bomb and running out of resources.
ReplyDeletethere's more oil now than then.
more food. more sardines.
more people living mo'better.
sustainable is LEFT-WING BS.
Ya know what's another big killer of Africans? Poisoning from use of unsafe pesticides, which were donated by industrialized countries because they were deemed too unsafe to use there. You can't just go dumping anything on food crops without thinking about it. Why do you think DDT was outlawed in the US?
ReplyDeleteThey are dying of undernourishment because they do not have a stable government providing them with infrastructure. If they had better health care, they would not be dying of malaria. You are completely contradicting yourself when you say that they do not need more government, but they need fridges and stoves. Before they can have those things, they need to have adequate housing and electricity, and before they can have that they need a stable government, collecting taxes and providing them with the support that they need, and YES they need industry. I told you, I was never saying anything against it.
Sustainable is not bullshit. I don't know why anyone would be against running industries as efficiently as possible. It cuts down on waste, pollution, and the amount of money spent. Everyone wins, it just takes an initial investment.
woohoo, there are more sardines. I guess that means the environment's completely healthy! Human's have done absolutely nothing bad to it, we don't need to change anything
And if you think I'm a libertarian, you're an idiot.
Exactly.
ReplyDelete2008 was only the 9th or 10th warmest since record keeping began back in 1850.
That's pitiful.
If AGW were real, 2008 would have made the top 3.
Top 10 is for losers.
Cheers!
