Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger ordered the new Legislature into work on its first day, declaring a fiscal emergency in response to the state's deteriorating finances.
"Without immediate action, our state is headed for a fiscal disaster where everyone will be hurt," Schwarzenegger said at a news conference this afternoon in his Los Angeles office. He urged Californians to press lawmakers to "get off their rigid ideologies."
The state projects a $28-billion deficit by mid-2010, but at the current rate is on track to run out of cash by February or March.
WHAT THE FUCK DO THEY SPEND ALL THAT FUCKING TAX MONEY ON OUT THERE!?!?
- NOTHING GOOD, OR ELSE THE TAX-PAYING ELECTORATE WOULD BE DEMANDING THE PRIVILEGE OF PAYING THE STATE HIGHER TAXES IN ORDER TO KEEP OR EXPAND THE SERVICES, WOULDN'T THEY!?
- THE CRAP THE GOVERNMENT OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DOES WITH THE TAXES DOESN'T MAKE A POSITIVE DIFFERENCE IN MOST PEOPLE'S LIVES - THAT'S WHY THEY DON'T WANT HIGHER TAXES TO END THE CRISIS.
- THE PROBLEM IS THAT THE POLITICIANS' POWER DEPENDS ON THEM BEING ABLE TO DOLE OUT TAXPAYER MONEY.
- SO THE POLITICIANS DON'T WANT TO CUT SPENDING.
- THE ONLY WAY TO END THIS IS IN CALIIFORNIA - AND EVERYWHERE ELSE - IS TO HAVE THE SMALLEST POSSIBLE GOVERNMENT.
- LIMITED GOVERNMENT.
My mother-in-law, in advanced stages of Alzheimer's, lives in Southern California. Despite all logic to the contrary, she can't get any help from the state of California. This, after all the years of paying taxes at an exorbitatantly high rate.
ReplyDeleteSORRY TO HEAR THAT.
ReplyDeleteMY LATE POP - OF BLESSED MEMORY - MAY HE REST IN PEACER - HAD A RELATED DISEASE.
I WISH YOU ALL STRENGTH IN THE LONG GRIEVING PROCESS...
