DESPITE CALLS FOR CEASE-FIRE, THE PIPELINE WAR IS WORSENING/ESCALATING AND SPREADING

*******UPDATE/5:12PM: BBC:

Russia has continued air raids deep inside Georgia, after it rejected Tbilisi's announcement that it had called a ceasefire and wanted talks.

Jets bombed targets near Tbilisi, including the airport, and Russia said its warships had sunk a Georgian boat that approached and tried to attack.

IHT:
A Georgian news Web site reports that warplanes bombed an area near the capital's airport hours after the country's president called for a cease-fire in fighting against Russia.

The Civil Georgia Web site cites the Interior Ministry as saying the bombing took place about 7 p.m. (1500 GMT) Sunday. The report said the bomb fell on an unpopulated area near the airport. There were no reports of casualties.

The ministry said earlier that Russian warplanes dropped several bombs near the airport around dawn.

President Mikhail Saakashvili on Sunday called for a cease-fire and said troops were pulling out of the separatist South Ossetia region.
TURKISH PRESS:
Russia is planning to move parts of its Black Sea fleet towards Georgia's rebel Abkhazia region, a US State Department official said Saturday.

"We have been notified that Russia has plans to move elements of its Black Sea fleet to Abkhazia, to Ochamchira, ostensibly to protect their civilians ... a couple of cruisers, or large scale naval vessels," said the official, asking to remaining anonymous.
NEWS.COM.AU:
FIGHTING in Georgia is escalating and widening beyond the breakaway region of South Ossetia into another Georgian separatist area, a top UN peacekeeping official said.

UN assistant secretary-general for peacekeeping Edmond Mulet said there have been "very substantial numbers of casualties, refugees and destruction" in Georgia.

"At this point we are particularly concerned that the conflict appears to be spreading beyond South Ossetia into Abkhazia," Mr Mulet said.
IT'S TIME FOR A DECISIVE MOVE/THREAT ON OUR PART.

*******UPDATE: WHAT IT'S ALL ABOUT:

RUSSIAN IMPERIALISM IS SPILLING GEORGIAN BLOOD FOR OIL.
WHERE'S THE OUTRAGE ON THE LEFT!?

1 comment:

  1. Russia has always been imperialistic. Their history of imperialism gives the lie to the complex theories of American corporate imperialism.

Russia just goes in, bombs, shoots, takes the country over, and then runs it as a business for the benefit of Russia.

    That is imperialism.

What we did in Iraq and Afghanistan is not imperialism.

The fact that we will stick around for years to come does not mean that we are imperialists. If we were imperialists, we wouldn't have trouble working out oil contracts, etc.

If we were imperialists, we would be running Germany, Japan, South Viet Nam, South Korea, and numerous other places around the world.

And, here is the strangest thing; if we were running all those countreis, they would all be like America, instead of what they are, which is inferior to America. (I know, they are all good countries, but well, you know).
