MICHAEL DEBAKEY, REFUGEE FROM THE JIHAD, R.I.P.

Pioneering cardiac surgeon, medical scientist, and medical educator Michael Debakey is dead at 99.

He was born in the United States because his parents were refugees from the jihad. From the New Duranty Times obituary:
Michael Ellis DeBakey never lost the Southern drawl he acquired growing up in Lake Charles, La. He was born on Sept. 7, 1908, the oldest of five children of Lebanese-Christian immigrants who moved to the United States to escape religious intolerance in the Middle East. His parents chose Cajun country because French was spoken there, as it had been in Lebanon. [Emphasis added.]

Yes, his parents fled the Lebanon because of the jihad.

They moved to America before 1908. Before the Iraq War. Before the election of President George W. Bush. Before the establishment of the State of Israel.

They did not move to America for the social security system, for medicare, for welfare, or for any other entitlement program -- none of which existed in 1908. They moved to America for freedom, the freedom to practice their Christian religion without being forced into the second-class status of dhimmis by intolerant jihadis intent on imposing shariah on everyone. And they thrived. And their son Michael thrived, and lived to make contributions of great import to the lives of millions.

May he rest in peace, a faithful and devoted servant of mankind.
