CNN:
In a CNN/Opinion Research Corp. survey completed in early June before the New York senator ended her White House bid, 60 percent of Clinton backers polled said they planned on voting for Obama.AWESOME!
In the latest poll, that number has dropped to 54 percent.
In early June, 22 percent of Clinton supporters polled said they would not vote at all if Obama were the party's nominee, now close to a third say they will stay home.
In another sign the wounds of the heated primary race have yet to heal, 43 percent of registered Democrats polled still say they would prefer Clinton to be the party's presidential nominee.
Bush won more Dems than Kerry won Republicans; this was one key reason Bush won.
McCain - who is more of a centrist than Bush - will win MORE DEMS than Bush, and it looks like Obama will win fewer than Kerry.
THIS SPELLS LANDSLIDE.
McCain by 150 electoral votes.
UPDATE: WELCOME GATEWAY READERS!
NOTE: INSTAPUNDIT AND HOT AIR NOW HAVE A LINK TO THE NEWS - A HALF DAY AFTER US.
But, how many Republicans are not going to be able to stomach voting for McCain? Right now, today, I can't bring myself to vote for him.
ReplyDeleteDon't count your chickens quite so hastily.
ReplyDeleteAt every turn, the rino mccain and his supporters (such as LGF) are ordering Christians and Conservatives to shut up and go away. They claim Conservatives are "dying out," "irrelevant," and unwanted in the "new" rino party.
mccain is betting his candidacy that he can discard the former republican base and win dem votes by being just as liberal as the libs. Soon-to-be-former Sen. Gordon Smith (rino, Oregon, and mccain tout) is using many hardcore socialists in his campaign videos. He claimed that the obamster liked his voting record, as though this was a good thing! He, like mccain, BRAGS about kissing dem butts "across the aisle."
My family shall not choose between liberals. We shall neither vote for, nor finance, rinos.
mccain and his rino pals offer this nation more big spending, more big government, more liberal courts, more weakening of our Constitution, AMNESTY, lower energy production and continued promulgation of socialist indoctrination centers (that's our failed public school system, to you lefties out there.)
The rinos have even swallowed the global warming hoax. They used to whine that socialism was, "for the kids." They now whine that, "it's for the planet." Shame on them all.
President obamster, by a nose, IMHO.
felllas:
ReplyDeletecertainly oabam might win.
but the polls now show that he is getting LESS dem support than kerry.
that's a fact.
and mccain is getting MORE dem support.
sure: mccain must hold the base.
i think he will.
why?@
simple: obama.
and mccain does have solid conservative positions on several issues: abortion; guns; judges; war; spending.
obama has NO SOLID POSITIONS ON ANYTHING.
his lack of trustworthiness is the trump card here.
rinos won;t trust him, and neither will lefties.
Reliapundit, your points are well taken, but they don't spell "landslide." When you acknowledge a potential victory for the obamster, we may infer the impossibility of a "landslide."
ReplyDeleteYou concede that, "mccain must hold the base." Please explain how he can hold ANY base, when he and his friends call the Conservatives "Racists" and "Bigots" for merely supporting the rule of law? The leader of the "gang of fourteen" cannot even be trusted to support our Constitution, let alone his "base."
mccain is a fool, and a democrat. We Conservatives remember full-well that if jeffords hadn't beaten mccain to the draw, mccain would have switched to the democrat party in 2000. mccain approached the idiot kerry as a potential V.P. partner in 2004!
He and his friend Charles Johnson of LGF openly mock and vilify ALL evangelical Christians for our belief (along with our Founding Fathers) that there is a Creator, by whom we are blessed with "unalienable rights?"
LGF's rino claim that "24 million" Conservative Christians are irrelevant was proven dramatically WRONG in November of '06, and will haunt the phony republican party this cycle. The rinos are still in denial over '06. Can they say nancy pelosi and harry reid?
The obamster may not get the full support of liberals, but no democrat candidate has, in recent times. B. Clinton never won a majority, just a plurality. Bush 43 is the last rino Conservatives will ever help to elect.
You contend that mccain holds Conservative positions on spending and judges. There is ample evidence to the contrary. mccain doesn't even support lower taxes, despite his recent phony epiphany. He is a liar, and is analogous to a "Christian" professing to believe in "several" of the Ten Commandments.
Comparing mccain to a greater fool is no incentive for support. This nation deserves better, and Conservatives are willing to wait, rather than settle for any fool.
BEAR: ELECTORAL COLLEGE LANDSLIDE.
ReplyDeleteI AM A CONSERVATIVE WHO'D PREFER A CENTRIST HAWK LIKE MCCAIN TO A LEFTIST DOVE LIKE OBAMA.
IF SITTING HOME AND VOTING GUARANTEED A MCCAIN WIN THEN I'D RECOMMEND THAT.
BUT IT WON'T.
MCCAIN IS NO BIG SPENDER.
AND HE'LL APPOINT BETTER JUSTICES/JUDGES THAN OBAMA.
I AGREE LGF IS WACKY.
BUT HE'S A HAWK IN THE GWOT AND I'LL STAND WITH HIM AGAINST THE JIHADISTS AND THE POSTMODERN LEFTISTS.
AS RUMMY CORRECTLY SAID:
YOU FIGHT T THE WAR WITH THE ARMY YOU HAVE, NOT THE ONE YOU WISH YOU HAD.
DITTO THE WHITE HOSUE;
WE MUST WIN WITH MCCAIN, NOT THE CANDIDATE WE WISH WE HAD.
NOW GET OUT THERE AND DO THE RIGHT THING.
IT AIN'T THE PERFECT THING, BUT IT'S THE RIGHT THING.
VOTE MCCAIN.
Reliapundit, I'll be brief, and final. NOBODY gets to call me and my family racist, and then gets our votes.
ReplyDeleteChoosing between cutting a vein, or ingesting poison, is no choice. When the country figures out (again) that Reagan's Conservatism is best, my family will vote accordingly. Until then, you wiser souls can experiment with socialism to your hearts' content. Some lessons need to be learned the hard way.
