EAST JERUSALEM HOUSING PROJECT APPROVED

The proper way to answer to Condi Rice's hypocrisy:
A Jerusalem city plan to build tens of thousands of new apartments in the city, including a couple of thousand in various Jewish neighborhoods of east Jerusalem, has received final approval, the municipality said Sunday.

The announcement came just as US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice was pressing Israel to stop construction in east Jerusalem during her latest peace mission in Israel.

The building proposal, which won city approval earlier this year, has been authorized by the Interior Ministry building and planning committee, Jerusalem Municipality spokesman Gidi Schmerling said.

The proposed construction is part of a long-term city building plan which will see the construction of 40,000 new apartments throughout the city over the next decade, including a couple of thousand in Jewish neighborhoods of east Jerusalem such as Gilo and Ramot, areas that Israel built after the 1967 Six Day War in east Jerusalem that are located within the city's expanded municipal lines but were never recognized by the international community.
And this still requires actually seeing something being done in order to be believed. So I hope we'll be seeing some tractors and dump trucks on the spot doing groundswork for housing foundations.
