OBAMA VERSUS MR SMITH

One of the great films of all time is MR SMITH GOES TO WASHINGTON, by Frank Capra.

It's a about an idealistic young man, Mr. Jefferson Smith - played by James Stewart - who gets appointed to the US Senate to fill out a term cut short by death. He gets appointed by the MACHINE, and is expected to do their bidding. But he won't; he foils them and brings them down.

WATCH THE WHOLE MOVIE HERE. (Even if you've seen it a dozen times like me, you'll be amazed how GREAT the first 12 minutes are - it sets up everything perfectly. They don't write them like this anymore - or if they're written they don't get produced!)

WHAT DOES THIS HAVE TO DO WITH OBAMA!?!?

SIMPLE: Obama's a product of the Chicago Machine - which is as corrupt as they come. (More here.)

The machine tapped him for his Senate run
and helped him pad his State Senate record in preparation. THEY'VE BRAGGED ABOUT IT.

The difference is that - unlike Mr. Smith, Obama played ball with the machine from the get go - ever since he relocated to Chicago and lawyered there for a machine-connected law firm.

The rest is history...

If Obama had had real courage and any morals then he would have taken on the machine, (like Mr. Smith did), and then he would be qualified for the presidency.

As it stands now, he isn't qualified for anything - EXCEPT THE WITNESS STAND IN A FEDERAL CORRUPTION TRAIL.

Mr Smith: idealist. PERIOD.

Barack Hussein Obama Junior: an ambitious young man who sold out and became a corrupt machine politician. A very loquacious one. A very popular one.

BTW: Obama could never have been cast as Mr. Smith; he's WAY TOO SMOOTH. But Barack could've played the role which Claude Rains had in the movie: a former idealist bought out by the machine YEARS AGO.
