THE DEBATE TONIGHT WAS JUST AWFUL FOR EVERYONE - EVEN FOX

It sucked bigtime.

Especially by comparison to ABC's Gibson and Fox's Wallace.

The format featured too much reporter and not enough candidate and too much Paul. And too much audience.

NO ONE CAME OFF GOOD.

Boring. Stiff. Sound bites.

This debate will not change anybody's mind.

Or change the polls.

Pity.

The folks at NRO thought Fred looked great. I didn't think so.

But maybe because I was watching on my laptop.

They need to get rid of Paul.

And the reporters.

And the audience.

And just do three issues. And allow a lot of interchange between the candidates.

They can get rid of the podiums too.

OH: And the opening with the National Anthem sucked too: made the whole damn thing resemble a beauty pageant.

Pity.

HIGHLIGHTS PLUS AT HOT AIR.

  1. It was a terrible debate for Fox. Not so much the questions, since they covered the bases, but they all but shut Romney out, what 3 questions directed to him, while going to Paul or Huckster over and over, especially during the first half. I live blogged it and at first I was wondering if Romney left after the opening question.

For what it was, I'll give it to Fred.

  2. It seemed to me that they spent way too much time on Paul (so...they need a neo-Nazi for ratings??), to the detriment of everyone else, especially Romney and Fred. I also thought that they showed a bit of a bias towards McCain.

I almost don't mind them going to Huckabee because he digs himself a deeper hole every time they go to him. But Fred deserves better.

The best debate I have yet seen was the ABC format before NH when he Gibson just let them go back and forth.
