TIME FOR BUSH 44 - "DRAFT JEB!"

  • IF MITT, RUDY AND MCCAIN CAN'T BEAT THE HUCKSTERBEE, THEN MAYBE IT'S TIME SOMEONE WHO COULD BEAT HIM GOT INTO THE RACE...

  • 'CAUSE IF YOU CAN'T BEAT HUCKSTERBEE, YOU AIN'T GONNA BEAT OBAMA OR HILLARY.

SO WHO MIGHT WE TURN TO???? HERE:

CNN/2005:
Florida Gov. Jeb Bush would be "awfully good" in the job of president, but the timing isn't right, his father and former President George H.W. Bush told CNN Tuesday.
Another national political pundit is musing about Gov. Jeb Bush's presidential prospects. Among the nuggets from the National Journal column:

"As for Jeb, I'm not ready to count him out for '08. There's a vacuum developing in the party among mainstream conservatives who aren't crazy about Arizona Sen. John McCain or trusting of Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney. Jeb doesn't have to get in early;
WASHINGTON POST/2006: Jeb Would Make a 'Great President,' Bush Says
Coming soon: President Bush III? The second -- and current -- President Bush suggested yesterday that his younger brother, Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, would make a "great president."

"I would like to see Jeb run at some point in time, but I have no idea if that's his intention or not," Bush said in an interview
with Florida reporters, according to a story on the St. Petersburg Times Web site.

If that sounds familiar, the Bush brothers' father, former president George H.W. Bush, made a similar statement last year, telling CNN's Larry King that Jeb Bush would be "awfully good" as president.
"This guy's smart, big and strong. Makes the decisions," the first President Bush said then.

Two brothers have never been elected to serve as U.S. president.
Jeb Bush, 53, who cannot seek reelection after his second term as governor ends in January, has repeatedly said that he will not run for president in 2008, just before his brother leaves the White House.

But that has not stopped at least two fellow Republicans -- his father and his older brother -- from planting the idea.
  • THERE ARE THINGS ABOUT EACH OF THE GOP FRONT-RUNNERS I LIKE, BUT NOT A SINGLE ONE IS THE WHOLE PACKAGE.

  • JEB BUSH IS.

JOHN ELLIS BUSH FOR PRESIDENT...

IT'S POSSIBLE...

  • IF... THE IRAQ WAR STAYS ON ITS CURRENT TRACK...

  • AND IF THE ECONOMY RECOVERS FROM "THE SUB-PRIME FLU"...

  • AND IF WE CAN GET IRAN TO FALL IN LINE LIKE NORTH KOREA AND LIBYA , THEN MAYBE THE NATION WILL GET OVER BUSH FATIGUE?

JUST SAYING...

THEN AGAIN, IF ALL THIS HAPPENS THEN ANY GOP CANDIDATE WILL DO...

  1. Not bad, not bad. But IMO Jeb is too big of a talent to take that big a risk on him now. He has a real chance of being President later. I'd rather develop him fully than to utilize him as a "bullpen" pitcher.

Newt Gingrich on the other hand has nothing to lose and everything to gain--and he had already indicated earlier in theyear that if someone did not "step up" for the Republicans, then might be up for a run.

I think Gingrich would rally Republicans like no one else in the party could right now. He has the charisma AND the right ideology. And Thompson (or Jeb) would make an excellent VP for Gingrich, setting either of them up to possibly run in the future.

  2. I said this a year ago but there is no way another Bush can run this next year. Jeb will have to wait until next time around or the time after that.

It is a shame though because if we had someone like him or JC Watts we wouldn't have any internal bickering right now. And its unfair to Jeb that just because of his last name he can't run but its the nature of the game.
