- THE COWBOY WAS A HERO - A SYMBOL OF AMERICAN CAN-DO ATTITUDE AND TAMING THE FRONTIER.
- JOHN WAYNE.
BUT TO SENOR RICHARDSON, IT'S A BAD THING:
Democratic presidential candidate Bill Richardson says America's image abroad needs a makeover, and he wants to be the one to do it.
"We have to find ways again where American diplomacy is not considered cowboy diplomacy, but is considered diplomacy where we're not the policemen of the world, but the conscience of the world,"
Richardson said Monday after a question about threats facing the U.S. Cowboy diplomacy is a reference to President Bush, who is from the cowboy state of Texas, and his approach to foreign policy.
- THE USA IS THE POLICEMAN OF THE WORLD.
- WE HAVE BEEN SINCE 1915 - TO THE BETTERMENT OF THE WORLD.
- WE PATROL THE SEAS AND MAKE AND KEEP THE WORLD SAFE FOR DEMOCRACY - AND FREE TRADE. WE DEFENDED EUROPE FROM THE COMMIES FOR HALF A CENTURY. DIDN'T CHARGE THEM A PENNY.
- SENOR RICHARDSON AND THE DEMS WOULD STEP BACK FROM THAT ROLE.
AND WHO WOULD FILL THE VOID!?
AHMADINEJAD AND PUTIN AND CHAVEZ AND THE CHINESE.
THAT SOUNDS WORSE TO ME.
BUT HEY, IF YOU LIKE THAT, THEN BY ALL MEANS VOTE DEMOCRAT.
* THE USA IS THE POLICEMAN OF THE WORLD.
ReplyDeleteYes, and nobody likes that.
* WE HAVE BEEN SINCE 1915 - TO THE BETTERMENT OF THE WORLD.
Obviously you are very confused. I assume you may be referring to US involvement in WWI, which actually began in 1917, not 1915.
I might also add that the Soviet Union is what defeated Nazi Germany in WWII, and I suggest you look up David M. Glantz if you want to try to dispute that
* WE PATROL THE SEAS AND MAKE AND KEEP THE WORLD SAFE FOR DEMOCRACY - AND FREE TRADE. WE DEFENDED EUROPE FROM THE COMMIES FOR HALF A CENTURY. DIDN'T CHARGE THEM A PENNY.
Calling bullshit here. The problem with words like "democracy" is that they have meanings. In reality, the US has used this power to prevent democracy, most notably in Korea and Vietnam.
You wonder why people hate the US policy, despite liking American people? Your ignorant comments here are the reason why.
The guy before me is clearly an idiot and I agree with your perspective on things. The Soviet Union defeated Nazi Germany? Yeah, right. If the U.S. never entered the war, I'm sure Nazi Germany would have had a tough time winning WWII!
ReplyDeleteThat being said, I think Richardson used the term "cowboy" to mean maverick which is quite common in business parlance. Being the veteran diplomat used to building consensus, it's understandable why he would be against maverick diplomacy.
It's not meant to be a slight against real ranchers/cowboys.
