HOTEL PLACES GORE'S GLOBAL WARMING BOOK IN NIGHTSTAND INSTEAD OF BIBLE

That's, kind of, appropriate, considering they are both books of faith:
Visitors to the Gaia Napa Valley Hotel and Spa won't find the Gideon Bible in the nightstand drawer. Instead, on the bureau will be a copy of "An Inconvenient Truth,'' former Vice President Al Gore's book about global warming.
So now the liberal traveler who is having a bit of trouble sleeping can regale himself with the mythos of doom that he so loves. Sweet dreams.

  1. I just read about this. It is the most absurd thing I've ever heard of.

  2. Yep.

And, the absurdity is fitting for the people it serves, isn't it?

  3. There's a children's version being sold in Costco this month. Well, it _says_ it's a children's version. I browsed it a bit - looks like a version a child would find _really_ boring.

  4. YOu might want to check out the hotel's link as the report appears to be incorrect:

A Gideon Bible & Al Gore's Inconvenient Truth in Our Guestrooms. Contrary to an erroneous news report, Gaia Napa Valley Hotel and Spa is continuing the long tradition, first established in 1899, of placing a Gideon bible in all our hotel guest rooms. In addition, we are placing the book of Buddha's Teaching for Buddhist travellers We are pleased to be a part of this tradition. Also, as the first US hotel to apply for a LEED Gold certificate – making us the greenest hotel in the United States - you'll find a copy of Al Gore's book, "An Inconvenient Truth", in each of the rooms for your reading pleasure.
