IS A GAZA COUNTER-ATTACK LOOMING?

YNET:
Egypt warns Qassam launching cells

Egypt fears that the continuation of rocket attacks against Israel by Palestinian groups in the Gaza Strip will prompt a large-scale ground offensive, a senior Egyptian military attaché said Sunday.

Bourhan Hamdan, the head of Egypt's permanent security delegation in the Gaza Strip, called on Palestinian armed groups to halt rocket fire towards Israel. ... "They will prompt a violent Israeli response which will destroy what remains of the humble civilian infrastructure in the strip and claim many Palestinian casualties," he said.

Olmert hints at possible Gaza offensive

Prime Minister Ehud Olmert hinted Sunday that Israel would launch military operations against gunmen in the Gaza Strip if rocket attacks persisted.

"Israel has no interest in an escalation in Gaza, but we will not be able to ignore the continuation of Qassam fire and infiltration attempts by terror groups," Olmert told the cabinet. ... Olmert added Israel sent warnings to the Palestinians through international mediators that the Jewish State might have to launch ground incursions in Gaza in order to protect southern cities from the threat of rocket attacks.
ISRAEL NEEDS A DECISIVE VICTORY OVER THE JIHADISTS. AN MERE INCURSION/CLEAN-UP OPERATION MIGHT BE GOOD IN THE SHORT TERM, BUT ONLY USING DECISIVE FORCE CAN REALLY TEACH THE JIHADOTHUGS A LESSON:
EVERY STRUCTURE WITHIN FIRING DISTANCE OF ISRAEL SHOULD BE LEVELED.
