WHO LED TO THE WAKF CONTROLLING THE TEMPLE MOUNT?

The Weekly Standard (via IRIS Blog) talks about the controversy that erupted over the Israeli government's building a special platform for tourists to reach the Temple Mount. But there's one part they all but left out - who led to the Wakf dominating the Temple Mount? It was Gen. Moshe Dayan. A little bit on this from JCPA:
Soon after its capture, Defense Minister Moshe Dayan handed the keys to the Temple Mount to the Muslim Waqf authorities of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in a gesture of respect for the rights of Muslims at the site.
Big mistake, especially when they never showed any genuine appreciation for Dayan's surrender and appeasement.

Dayan, IMO, did a very serious wrong by surrendering the keys to one of Israel's most important sites to any Muslim "authority", because that's what led to a lot of the problems now being faced.
