From this article in the January 26, 2007 Washington Times:
Senate Democrats quashed a proposal yesterday that would have dramatically increased civil fines on employers who hire illegal aliens. [...] Mr. Sessions' proposal came directly out of the employer-sanctions section of the immigration-reform bill approved with overwhelming Democratic support last year. It would raise the minimum fine on employers from $250 per hired alien to $5,000 per alien. And it would raise the maximum fine from $10,000 per alien to $40,000 per alien. The article also contains this plum, evidencing politics in action, at the expense of the interests of our nation:
Though Democrats turned back Mr. Sessions' employer-sanctions amendment, they allowed through a second Sessions amendment aimed at federal government contractors who are caught hiring illegal aliens....
After accusing Republicans of stalling, Mr. Kennedy then proceeded to read aloud for five minutes a story in the New York Times about soldiers fighting in Iraq.
Paganism Explained:
ReplyDeleteSamhain
Hebden Bridge Pagan John The Wiz takes an alternative look at Halloween, known in Paganism as Samhain. He says it's an important time for West Yorkshire's Pagans - and he tries to dispel a few scary myths!
Samhain is here! Ask any Pagan, Wiccan, Druid, Wizard or Witch in the land and they will undoubtedly tell you that this is probably the most important and celebrated of the eight Pagan festivals of the year. Not only is it great fun but, being the 'Festival of the Dead', it is also of very great spiritual significance to us.
FROM THIS I GATHER THAT YOU REJECT CHRISTIANITY, TO JOHN SAMHAIN.
IS THIS THE CASE?
