EDITORIAL CARTOONS BY DR. SEUSS

Not many people know that besides being a famous author of children's books Dr. Seuss also made editorial cartoons during World War II. There is a whole book with the collection of them entitled, Dr. Seuss Goes to War by Richard H. Minear. Simply put they are awesome and many of them apply to what we are facing today. Dr. Seuss was actually a Democrat but he was one back when Democrats still believed in national security.

My friend found the website that has them. It is a goldmine of great cartoons that would totally apply to the appeasers of today. Check it out! You can click on the different topics and see the cartoons he did for each subject. My only wish is that all the anti-war protesters from this past weekend could see these and be able to "get" how important it is not to appease the enemy.

  3. McCoy, more to the point, do you understand the similarities? In both cases we had a brutal dictator intent on slaughtering a huge portion of his citizens; determined to conquer surrounding nations, completely indifferent to the opinions of other world leaders.

One of the most significant differences, if you want to go that route, is that the US didn't sit back and twiddle their thumbs, a la England, France and the US back in the 1930s.

And lest anyone worries that I am diminishing the impact of the holocaust, please allow me to point out that I am of German Jewish descent. My husband's family probably is not, however as his Grandmother's entire family were murdered by nazis, I can't exactly ask them about the particulars of their heritage.
