Another GOP fumble. News just breaking that Florida Senator Mel Martinez is going to be the next RNC Chairman. Bad choice in my book. I think he's been a mediocre Senator at best. It wouldn't be so bad if he were quitting the Senate and Governor Crist appointed Jeb Bush to his seat, but he's going to do both jobs apparently. The last RNC Chairman to hold down an elected office at the same time was former Virginia Governor Jim Gilmore and his tenure was pretty lame. I don't know about the rest of the gang at TAB, but I'm not liking this pick too much.
he's bad on immigration and bad on oil-drilling.
ReplyDeletebut FL is essential as are the legal hispanics.
we shall see...
Cue a lot of slogans from the RNC about 2008 being "the year of the Hispanic Republican." Y'know, since that whole "year of the black republican" thing worked out so well, it's time to move on.
ReplyDeletethen again, maybe it has to do with playing defense: i consider bill richardson the most formidable candidate th dems can offer,
ReplyDeletea richardson-warner ticket might be impossible to beat. remember, warner ruled out a run for potus, but not veep.
