GOVERNMENT OF ISRAEL "FAILED IN ITS RESPONSIBILITY TO CAPTIVES"

According to this former IDF official, Uzi Dayan:
"The gov't is working according to the accepted zoological principle known as Survival, as opposed to the best interests of its citizens." So says ex-Nat'l Security Advisor Gen. (ret.) Uzi Dayan.

Arutz-7's Yigal Shok asked Gen. Dayan to comment on the increasing reports that Gilad Shalit is likely to be released soon in exchange for an unknown number of terrorists. Shalit was kidnapped by eight Hamas terrorists as he was manning a position just outside Gaza over four months ago; two soldiers were killed in the attack.
There is a good point to be made here that Ehud Olmert's government is failing mainly because they're not performing a full-scale invasion of Gaza to rescue Shalit. Not only that, but, there is no telling if he'll actually be released or not. And if Olmert releases any criminals, terrorists or not, as a way to get Shalit back, that too will be an act of defeat.

It should be noted that Ariel Sharon led to a lot of this by retreating from Gaza and expelling many Jews from their homes, not to mention that he destroyed a lot of very good farming businesses in the process, such as Katif Lettuce, which had to relocate. A recent study showed that kassam rocket attacks since then have increased, the main barrage being against Sderot.
