BUSH FAILS THE CONAN THE BARBARIAN TEST

Drudge is headlining that "The Gloves Are Off" for George W. Bush as he campaigns for Republicans going into the fall elections, just some 40 days away. I'd really like to believe it this time, but these past nearly 6 years have made me pessimistic at best.

I think when all is said and done for George W. and we look back on his legacy (you know, that thing Bill Clinton thinks of 24/7) there will be two major mistakes that stand out. The first, of which much has been written, is his refusal to clear the executive branch of former Clintonites, George Tenet being the poster boy for this failure. The second mistake, his failure to engage his political enemies and instead cling to "a new tone" in Washington. George W. Bush learned quickly that reasoning with our enemy in the War on Terror is a dead end, so why does he refuse to learn this with his enemy at home? Granted, Bush is a very secure person who doesn't care what people think of him. Overall, that's a good thing and part of his strength, but he takes it one bridge too far. The more he's worked with the Democrats (remember the Ted Kennedy Education Bill?) the more they've turned on him. Hell, even the RINO's he's gone to the mat for, Chafee, Specter, can't wait for a chance to stab him in the back.

I don't pretend to know what's in the minds of the majority of voters, but if they're like me, they vote for someone who will fight for what he believes in and will answer the challenges from his enemies. This is what many of us have been waiting for and are still waiting for on the global stage.

  1. I agree. I want a fighter like Giuliani. I am so sick of the turn the other cheek thing.

  2. GREAT ONE jim! Welcome aboard!

BTW: this post helps prove why the BDS crowd is so dang NUTS!: bush has fought the "shooting war": with INCREDIBLE retraint (by ANY historical standard) - and perhaps even with too few soldiers. Like ... he has let alSadr off the hook several times, and maybe shoulda evacuated and firebombed fallujah and ramadi.

and, bush has even MOSTLY pursued multilateral DIPLOMATIC approach - like in regard to NOKO and Iran.

those who accuse bush of being a unilateral war-monger are NUTS.

bush is no CONAN, as you wrote. Bush is a COMPASSIONATE pansy. If FDR were POTUS,he'd a fried fallujah and ramamdi and Truman would nuked torabora.

Sad thing is: Bush is one of the hawkiest fellas around.

And yes moderationist, it's one reason rudy is VERY attractive. as is mitt.

    all the best!
