ISRAEL-JIHADIST WAR CONTINUES TO HEAT UP: jihadists in West Bank call off truce

An al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades leader says the Palestinian militant group will no longer respect a six-month truce after Israeli raids killed three militants. ... Israel has made more than 400 arrests in the West Bank since militants launched rocket attacks at the end of last week. ...Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon has rejected suggestions that Israel could stage take more unilateral steps after the Gaza pullout. "There is only one plan and that is the roadmap," he told a Tel Aviv business conference, referring to the internationally-backed peace plan which has lain largely dormant since its inception in 2003. Key Sharon aides have been suggesting that Israel could pull back from parts of the West Bank and unilaterally set its border if negotiations with the Palestinians failed. Gaza plan architect Eival Giladi, Sharon adviser Eyal Arad and cabinet minister Tzahi Hanegbi have all spoken in such terms this week.
Because completion of the Security fence, and a unilateral withdrawal makes Israel SAFER and more defensible IT WILL HAPPEN. It will NOT happen as a result of negotiations because negotiations require that the other side be negotiable and be reliable to keep promises they make. The Arabs in Gaza and the West Bank are neither.

Therefore, expect Israel to unilaterally withdraw from PARTS of the West Bank and call off any and all future negotiations on any and all other outstanding matters, (such as "refugees" and the "final status" of Jerusalem). This will happen not later than next summer; it will happen much sooner if jihadists force Sharon to act more swiftly then he'd like. STAY TUNED...

  1. Unilateral withdrawal will not bring peace, it will convince terrorists that violence can force Israel to concede to their demands. Look what happened after Israel's withdrawal from Gaza. More than 3,000 AK-47 assault rifles, one and a half million rounds of ammunition, 200 rocket-propelled grenades, SAM missles and anti-tank rockets were smuggled into Gaza from Egypt. These will be used to "convince" Israel to agree to make more concessions. Since the withdrawal, Kassam rockets are being fired on Israeli towns on a steady basis. To stop the terror attacks, the army needs to go into Gaza and clean it up. Withdrawals will never bring peace, as the Palestinians are showing us.

i agree, and argued in previous posts that unilaterally withdrawing allows the idf more freedom than when the GOI "occuopied" Gaza. Ditto the "West Bank".

Withdrawal is defensible becasue it stregnthens the IDF and the rationale for the IDF to use unbridled force - which si necessary to destroy the jihadists.

anyone who has read this blog for the last year knows i advocate ending WW$ by KILLING jihadists. and Israel is a front in WW4.

thanks for stopping by and commenting...

  3. Reliapundit,
I think you are correct that Israel will do the same thing in the West Bank as they did in Gaza, and I agree with you that it is a good idea. However, I don't think it will happen as fast as you think it will. They talked about the Gaza withdrawal for close to 18 months before it wass effected.

Why do you think the West Bank would go any more quickly?

I wish it would. As you know, I want this war to move forward. Iran and the Palestinians both need to be taken care of. Until they are, this terrorism will continue.

  4. we are further doen the road in the WB than yoiu think: much of the WB "settlements" which the GOI was gonna remove have been.

the security fence is almost done.

therefore, it is nearly a fait accompli.

this will free up the IDF to be as fierce as they need to be, and that will make Israel safer and this will mean that most Israelis will support it.

to do this Gaza must collapse - this will PROE that there is no one to negotiate with.

another creative scenario which would allow Israel to walk awauy from the jihadists in the west bank might be for Israel to give the remainder of the west bank to Jordan. jordan could then become a two-state kingdom.

The kingdom of Jordan and palestine.

    with a constitution and federalism.
and then let the king do battle with the jihadists.

    as jafari and karzai are.

this is NOT ikely to hapopen, because i think king abdullah 2 is not as brave and dares not to fight the jihadists.
