BHO would do well to learn that lesson, especially before commenting on an incident about which he himself admits not knowing the facts.
I am referring, of course, to his recent comment at a scripted press conference: "The police acted stupidly," in reference, of course, to the arrest of Harvard scholar Henry Louis Gates, Jr., who acted the fool by mouthing off to police investigating a possible break-in at his home. Gates made his reputation as an angry black man a la Al Sharpton; his novelty being he also has a doctorate. He has produced next to nothing as a scholar. Instead, he has devoted his time on Ivy League payrolls writing hip hop lyrics and shallow journalism. But he is pals with Obama, and that counts for a lot.
